17apr2012debrief: problems with Dave payload in field: --(1) sensors (not mag or acc) stuck high (solar panel monitor, thermistor, 2 phots) --(2) disassembled; reset on arduino fixed at every turnon; note peter engs23 similar failure at bad exit from code --(3) packed up planning to hit reset after turnon. BUT --(4) all packed up, everything stopped working, realized radio problem. --(5) at next lower power radio working again. may or may not have had reset problem --(6) worsened, wouldn't work at second lowest powr. appearance: 2 separate problems, same time. batteris: one for dnt, one for arduino. grounds. battery levels. yorke suggested RF noise issues. also resistive shorts in DNT. voltage levels: lessons learned rf problem tim and jon don't like just DNT vs DNT and ham; perhaps a gps emergency locator. or a phone which could be called. time delayed from launch instruction to send gps every 10 min from time a to time b. recovery team wants to move once updated coordinates are known. tracker program should be able to take input from either payload. launch team: have payload ready before start inflating. waiting for payload readiness could be harming balloon. wind conditions: 13 mph with gusts up to 22mph. but this was after proposed window. gusts are principal problem. curiousity: why six inch barrier to balloon hitting ground. tare weights vs scale: doesn't work when windy. need tare weight for backup. confirm required distance between payload and ground stations. THANK YOU NOTE TO MWRA**** ORDER MORE BALLOONS!!!!!*** ???whether or not to recover, and how. max/yorke? collect other launch team thoughts...*** car rental more than one day ahead. duck buildup: --fins, weights, etc mech one set should be complete this week. --take it outside, walk around. --take it to landing, on string. --one, then 5, then all --**GPS purchases next week space class: (1) jon field (2) thomas multiple (3) max/yorke altair (4) DNT small rockets also Dave (can time with yorke help with this) |
