status: winds apparently ok

transmit and receive radio (peter to order and fab more support boards

development board kit is used as ground station and as tool for programming both radios.

put transmitting radio into development board to change settings.

development kit can power from 9V battery or a 9V converter.

DNT wizard: only on a PC. used to program DNTs. (can listen on any computer.) resides presently on GC computer. CAT5 to 9pin Keyspan to USB; alternate on one dev bd is device to USB. get dev bd into serial port.

go to DNT wizard and select port. keyspan has specific drivers. (we have cd or online)

"connect": select com port. select baud rate 115200, set to that now, can't change for now. (software problem). hit ok.

now settings appear on left.

go to "config" to see settings.

in transciever setup:

concern: device mode >> remote for receiving; base for sending.

network ID: sets up network. FF is open. OxDA is dave. OX07 is altair.

TX power: 0Dbm is milliW; 30 dBM is 1 Watt. new firmware has automatic power control.???

security key: must match on all. password is same as wiki

rf data rate: radio has in and out; serial to hardware, and rf to other radios. baud rate is serial (115200), rf is 200K. if baud rate is higher than rf rate, problems.

in "protocol":

"radio mode" dave is multipoint because two receivers.

at bottom of "config" is "apply changes", do this.

repeat for all radios.

next, listen.

"realterm" on pc; "serial" or "timcapture" for macs.

on "port" choose port.

choose baud rate.

click "change"

click "open"

on "capture" tab, setup data file.

choose a name.

uncheck "direct capture" box. (otherwise can't see real display).

next, turn on transmitting radio.
